Warning! The following trend is not for the timid. If youre wondering how to wear this seasons open-toe shoes, prepare to pair them with socks.

Yep, we cant get enough of socks this season ankle socks, knee-high socks, colour-block styles, neon brights and animal print. Theyre the game girls alternative to tights and mean you can wear your tea dress a few weeks longer.

Theres only one rule bare legs are a must. Wearing them over tights is one step too far and only justifiable if a) youre on the catwalk or b) aged 12.

And while were on the subject, where do we stand on tights with open-toe shoes? Can webbed feet peeping out of an open-toe shoe ever be right? Personally, Im torn.

Its a definite no if were talking flesh-coloured tights of the American tan variety (heaven forbid!). But maybe a yes if its an opaque or statement tight with a seam-free toe quirky and cute.

Ive fallen in love with vintage-inspired tea dresses after seeing them on the Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu catwalks. Theyre perfect for nailing that 40s look, especially when teamed with a box clutch and red lips.

Its a look thats perfect for daytime chic, yet elegant for night and looks great year-round. Im putting my name down for Asoss swallow-print tea dress (60).

And to get maximum mileage, I might even team it with those socks and heels. Also hot in store is fashion guru Gok Wans clever collection for Tu at Sainsburys ().

Some of the items in the 24-strong collection, like the Palazzo pants (30) and Ultimate Wrap Dress (40), have concealed control panels for holding you in while looking fabulous. Genius or what? His kimono is also killer when teamed with skinny jeans and a court shoe.

This week, Id also like to share my new beauty obsession Airbrush make-up by Airbase ().

My skin has never looked so good! The airbrush application delivers custom-mixed foundation to match your skin tone.

It retails for 65, or see the website for a salon near you if you want a professional application for a special event.
