D&G Floral Print Pumps
D&G has done wonders with floral printed shoes. Normally I am not a huge fan of floral prints because, well … they remind me a lot of the Easter dresses I used to see in my youth. These pastel watercolor prints were worn by older ladies of the sort who liked their hair blue and their candy sticky, covered in lint, and hiding in the bottoms of their purses. Those are not very stylish connotations, as I’m sure you’ll agree. D&G, however, is able to change my mind about a number of things, including flowers. I find these gorgeous Floral Print Pumps in Variante Abbinata ($416.50 at Zappos) an absolute revelation.
I love, especially, the two toned appeal on the vamp. The stripes gradate, and the effect is nothing less than stunning, especially against the floral print found on the back of these heels. The shades of brown on the vamp bring out the warm yellow and green tones in the floral design. That’s another reason I love these. Normally with floral printed shoes – even with Dolce & Gabbana’s – the colors tend to run toward reds, pinks, purples, and some oranges. Here, however, you have lovely greens, blues, yellows, and white thrown in for lighter splashes of colors. They all complement one another beautifully.
The heels have a ½ inch platform, which takes the 4 and ¼ inch heel down a bit. The upper part of the shoe is made of both textile and leather, and there is a slim bow accenting the top of the vamp.
What do you think of floral shoes? Do you think they can be worn day to day? And what kinds of outfits do they complement?
